ENSEMBLES

Simply Strings Chamber Ensembles

The Simply Strings Chamber Ensembles offer all string players in the locality the opportunity to develop their musicianship and performance skills with like-minded musicians on a weekly basis.

Players of all ages, abilities and all schools are welcomed. Care is taken to place them within an appropriate ensemble, through which they will receive specialist direction as they explore a range of repertoire. Each ensemble is encouraged to partake in at least 3 performances each year to showcase their talent. Opportunities include Recital Evenings, Masterclasses and Festivities within the local community.

The advantages of chamber music-making are great. Playing within small chamber groups not only allows the individual to take their playing and performing skills to the next level, but encourages the development of a musical independence. Moreover, chamber music-making is fantastic fun through which close friendships are forged.

At present, ensembles rehearse every Friday at Rougemont School, Newport. 45 minute slots are allocated to ensembles between the hours of 4pm and 8pm.

Rougemont Simply Strings Club

The Strings Club caters for all string pupils learning in Rougemont School’s Infant department. Held every Friday lunchtime, pupils convene to enjoy musical games and develop fundamental musicianship skills. The emphasis is very much on having fun, with participation being strongly rewarded. Pupils love to be the ‘Simply Strings Star of the Week’ and take our trophy home to show friends and family.

The young yet disciplined members of Rougemont Simply Strings Club can regularly be heard performing at the School’s Christmas and Spring concerts, as well as the renowned Music For Youth Festival.

Rougemont Simply Strings Orchestra

The String Orchestra rehearses weekly and is designed to bring together pupils from both the Preparatory and Senior Schools. As such, players of all ages and abilities can come together to improve their individual skills whilst developing many new ones required of them when performing with others. It is these shared, special experiences that promote a sense of community, affording close friendships to flourish alongside their string playing.

Please get in touch for any further information about any of these groups.
